|
A discoid medial meniscus is a rare pathology of the knee joint, and even rarer is the bilateral medial discoid meniscus. We present a case report of bilateral discoid medial menisci. The symptomatic left knee was shown by arthroscopic examination and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to be a complete discoid medial meniscus with an intrasubstance horizontal cleavage tear. A complete discoid medial meniscus was also present in the unaffected right knee when further examined by MRI. The patient was successfully treated through partial meniscectomy and saucerization of the affected region of the meniscus using arthroscopic techniques.
